Randall & Quilter is pleased to announce the appointment of Gordon Breslin as Class Underwriter at Syndicate 1991.
Gordon will report to Active Underwriter Daniel Wright and will be focused on expanding the developing US and Canadian portfolios.
Gordon has over 30 years of experience specialising in North American and SME business and has held senior roles at CNA, ACE and most recently at the Beaufort Syndicate. Gordon was also Active Underwriter of Syndicate 1318, the first dedicated MGA syndicate at Lloyd’s from 2009 until 2011, when it was merged into Syndicate 318.
Commenting on Gordon’s appointment, Wright said, “I have known Gordon for many years and I am delighted to welcome him to the syndicate. His appointment is further confirmation that we are building an expert and high quality underwriting business. His extensive knowledge will be invaluable as we expand our product offerings and coverholder relationships in these territories”.
In his role as Class Underwriter, Gordon will be targeting small and medium sized risks; the classes of business to be underwritten include Package, General Liability and Commercial Property. The accounts will be written exclusively through Binding Authorities.
Established by R&Q Managing Agency Limited for the 2013 year of account, Syndicate 1991 is a specialist syndicate focusing on the Lloyd’s Binding Authority market, with first year capacity of £76 million.
It provides property, liability and specialist sports and leisure products to predominantly small and medium sized enterprise customers in the US and the UK, although other territories are serviced including Canada, Australia and Europe.
