We’re delighted to report on the progress of Tom Bosworth who recently broke his 20k race walking Personal Best at the European Race Walking Grand Prix in the Czech Republic. Tom cut 2 min 24 sec off his personal best to record 1hr 22min 20 sec and, in doing so, has achieved the qualifying time for this summer’s European Athletics Championships. Tom’s outstanding performance was the best by a British man in more than 20 years.
Tom has already met both of his targets for 2014: he is now in the top 50 in the world (ranked 43), and has qualified for his first major championships since the Common Wealth Games in 2010, by qualifying for this year’s European Athletics Championships.
In June Tom will be at the first British Grand Prix of race walking, which will be held in York and which doubles up as the British trials for the European Athletics Championships in Zurich in August.
Tom will also be racing a 5k at the British European Championship Trials in Birmingham at the end of June which will be shown on BBC1.
“Thanks to the support given by R&Q I was able to participate in the European Race Walking Grand Prix in the Czech Republic where I achieved my personal best” said Tom.
R&Q want to wish Tom all the best of luck and we’ll be supporting him every step of the way.
