Susan Young, Chief Risk Officer at R&Q, actively participated in the following thought leadership workshops at the recent AIRMIC conference.
Susan successfully facilitated a panel discussion made up of industry experts on this topic. Areas covered included the timing of ERM involvement in M&A, common risks, issues and pitfalls, stakeholder engagement, continuity of culture, ERM and Insurance solutions and integration.
With the help of Paul Corver, Group Head of M&A at R&Q, Susan was able to share practical and anecdotal insights as to how ERM and M&A functions can and do work well together in practice in an acquisitive organisation.

Susan was also part of a panel of eight risk professionals who shared their insights on, and examples of best practice risk management, including how risk management can be harnessed to create business value, each taking one of the eight principles of ISO 31000 as a guide.
Specifically, Susan spoke about continual improvement and how to keep the risk management framework ongoing and iterative. The session was well received and generated a useful discussion.
A podcast will be available in due course.
